Law Society Northern Territory welcomes Senior Counsel Appointment in the Northern Territory
Law Society Northern Territory (Society) congratulates Miles Crawley, who today received an appointment as Senior Counsel at an admission ceremony in the Supreme Court in Darwin.
Society President Mr Tass Liveris said, “Mr Crawley’s appointment as Senior Counsel is welcome and well deserved. Mr Crawley has been in practice for many years in South Australia and the Northern Territory and he demonstrates all of the attributes required for appointment as Senior Counsel, including exemplary knowledge of the law, a high level of skill as an advocate and a demonstrated commitment to the best traditions of the Bar and the administration of justice.”
Mr Crawley was first admitted to practice in South Australia in 1979. He has been a member of the Society since he relocated to the Northern Territory in 2010. He commenced practice in Darwin at a prominent Territory law firm. He joined the private Bar in 2012, signing the Bar Roll on 30 January 2012. He practices predominantly in insurance law, trusts and equity, contracts, medical negligence and misconduct, work health and industrial relations and employment law, at both first instance and appellate level.
He is the Secretary of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Psychiatry, Psychology and Law (NT Branch), a position he has held since 2011.
Mr Liveris said, “Mr Crawley becomes only the second silk currently practising at the private civil bar in the Territory. His appointment is part of an important development of the local civil bar, so that it is equipped and able to provide legal services across the full spectrum of need in the community. Mr Crawley’s appointment as Senior Counsel is a fitting recognition of his achievements across a wide range of courts and tribunals in the Territory over many year and the Society congratulates him on his appointment."
