Working with Interpreters - Resources for legal practitioners
The Judicial Council on Cultural Diversity has recently published a Benchbook for legal practitioners on working with interpreters.
While the Benchbook is intended for Criminal Proceedings, it is an extremely useful resource for any judicial officer working with interpreters. The Benchbook has been published on the JCCD website and can be accessed via this link: Interpreters in Criminal Proceedings: Benchbook for Judicial Officers.
The JCCD has also developed and launched a free Working with Interpreters for Legal Practitioners eLearning course. This course has tremendous value for the legal profession, and for improving the experiences and outcomes of all parties to legal matters in which the services of an interpreter are required. This is a free course and practitioners are able to gain two CPD points. View the flyer here.
