Working with Trauma Impacted Clients:
Managing Suicide Ideation within the Legal Process

A CPD-eligible seminar presented by Shine Lawyers

This seminar will equip you with the skills to better understand the risk associated with trauma impacted clients as well as breaking down the key identifiers of suicide ideation and risk of suicide.

Presenter Karen Spitz, Shine Lawyers Lead Counsellor, has worked with trauma impacted clients for over six years, including four years in the Northern Territory. Her experience comes from a variety of industries, including working with those who have been institutionalised in the justice and health systems.

The presentation provides the opportunity to gain 1.5 Ethics CPD points and will deliver information on the following circumstances:

  • Understanding client responses using a trauma lens
  • Approaching and deescalating a hostile client
  • Engaging in difficult conversations
  • Identifying suicidal behaviours and actions to take in response to risk

This seminar will be presented via Zoom on Thursday, 3 March 2022, 4.20 pm log in for a 4.30 pm start.
