Call for Expressions of Interest - Chief Judge of the Local Court
Expressions of interest are invited for appointment as Chief Judge of the Local Court in the Northern Territory.
Applicants must satisfy the eligibility requirements specified in s53(2) of the Local Court Act (NT). Beyond those minimum requirements, candidates are expected to have extensive legal experience and enjoy high standing in the legal profession.
The Chief Judge of the Local Court is based in Darwin and currently leads a group of 14 Local Court Judges. This position is expected to commence in the second half of 2019.
Local Court Judges exercise jurisdiction in criminal, civil, child protection, work health and coronial matters. Local Court Judges hold appointment to age 70. The position comes with an attractive remuneration package and further details are available on request.
Local Court Judges are required to travel on regular circuits.
